Employee Spotlight: Michael Gianelle

Michael David Gianelle

The oldest son of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Gianelle’s 10 children, Michael graduated from Parkside High School in 2006 and attended Fairfield University in Connecticut on scholarship for the men’s lacrosse team.

Four years later, Michael graduated with his Bachelor’s of Science in Finance, with minors in Mathematics and Biology. Inspired by his dad, Michael followed in his footsteps to pursue a career in medicine and worked over the summer at Your Doc’s In.

In 2011, Michael enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Medic. After graduating from the military’s Interservice Physician Assistant Program, he became a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in 2017.

Currently stationed in Fort Richardson, Alaska, Michael is deployed to Afghanistan as the sole medical provider for a Field Artillery unit until June 2018.

Michael is happily married to Kayla, a fellow Eastern Shore native. Kayla also attended Fairfield on scholarship! She played for the women’s softball team. Together they have two sons, ages five and three.

Michael’s commitment to his career and country is a reflection of his parents’ own work ethic and passion to serve the community. He hopes to rejoin the YDI team after the Army.
